Hi All
I am overwhelmed by the response to my query. Sadly there is still no sign of Mary Ann.
Should I consider putting the same query on the Aberdeenshire forum as well?
Kind regards

Hi Colin

I'm not sure if you'd get any other results if you put it there. All the marriages are on Scotlands People, which we all have access to.

When and where did her parents' die?

Just out of interest, I had a look at Mary Anne's birth cert as it was a 1855 one. I see that her father was born in Newcatle upon Tyne circa 1824.

Have you found any of his family there or any connections?

I've never visited the Ross-shire Nigg, although passed by a few times when we lived up there!

Given the age of the eldest on the 1901, the most likely Mary Ann/Forbes marriage is this one ~

Nigg 1870 - Mary Ann Morrice and Alexander Forbes

In 1871:
Balnagask Fens, Nigg
Alex Forbes, 25, fisherman
Mary, wife, 19

Both born Nigg

Will have a look at the Blairgowrie ones later but have to do business-y things for a while  ::)

Hi All
I am extremely grateful for your interest in my query.
I can tell you further that:-
Her father and mother both died in Durris, Kincardineshire
Although her father was born in the Newcastle area, I don't think the family retained any connection with that area.
Her mother was born into a farming family from Banchory Devenick, Kincardineshire
All Mary Ann's siblings married men and women from the Kincardineshire and Aberdeenshire area.
None of her siblings emigrated to England, Canada, USA, Australia etc although some of her nephews and nieces may have done so.
All of her brothers worked as farmers in the Kincardineshire area apart from the eldest who was in the Army.
I hope the above helps.
Regards

I'm just wondering if there might be Monumental Inscriptions for the family. If so, it might mention Mary Ann(e).

From Genuki:  http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/sct/KCD/#Cemeteries

I wonder if anyone has a copy?

Hi Gadget
The Monument Inscriptions are a good suggestion but sadly she is not on the family gravestones which are located in Durris Churchyard. There is also no obvious candidate on other MI's in Aberdeenshire and Kincardineshire although it would take some time to check this thoroughly especially if she dropped her middle name "Ann"
