Elizabeth Britton Birmingham
« on: Sunday 08 June 14 20:56 BST (UK) »
Hello

My ancestor Frederick Thomas Tubbs's wife was Elizabeth Britton and they lived in Birmingham. She was born in Castle Bromiage, Warwickshire. She was born in 1838.

I was wondering if someone could please help find her death year and name of parents. Be advised that the name Tubbs got changed around a bit, Frederick was listed as Tubbe.

my thanks

Her birth place is listed as Castle Bromiage, but Castle Bromwich sounds more likely since there is no Castle Bromiage

Good Morning
I think this is her
1851 census Duddeston Row Birmingham
Elizabeth Britton age 14 servant Castle Bromwich

Looking at baptisms at Castle Bromwich there is one Brittain couple-John and Pheobe.

Elizabeth 28.2.1836 to John and Pheobe Castle Bromwich labourer

Other children
Sarah 20.11.1818
Thomas 6.10.1822
Ann 31.8.1828
John 6.12.1829
Mary 17.2.1833.
There is a William Brittain infant buried 28.8.1825 which may explain the gap but no baptism.
Pheobe died and was buried at Castle Bromwich 17.2.1839 age 40
The couple seem to have married at Sheldon St Giles 6.2.1816
John Brittain and Pheobe Edwards.

Their oldest daughter Sarah married at Aston Juxta 16.10.1837
George Twist  lab Erdington s of Joseph  gardener
Sarah Britton servant Castle Bromwich John lab

Her sister Mary seems to be in Erdington workhouse in 1851
Mary Brittain 19 married pauper servant Castle Bromwich
Mary Ann 3 daughter Erdington

Can't seem to find the family in 1841 census
This may be the father John Brittain 48 ag lab Water Orton, parish of Aston on his own.

Been looking at the records, I cannot for the life of me find a death date for Elizabeth. She would have been listed under Aston or Birmingham North or Birmingham and would have had the surname either Tubbs, Tubb or Tubbe
