Can anyone tell me if there are any records about 1815-1820 that show who lived at a certain address??
I'm looking for tenants or owners living at Cloves, Alves

Many thanks ;)

Hi ,

If you have not done so already you can search on http://www.freecen.org.uk/ for the 1841/1851 Census.
Just enter 1841/1851 in the year box and Cloves in the Street box.

The 1797-98 Farm Horse Tax book gives Robert Dunbar at Cloves. He had ten horses, half of which were liable for the 2/- duty.

Dear GR2

Do you have any information on who lived at Cloves approx 1815 - 1820?

I really appreciate this info you have given me and I think it has confirmed that this may be one of my ancestors.  I was just trying to tie up a few loose ends.

I have no specific information about Cloves, just checked the horse tax (available free on Scotland's Places).

I had a look on Libindx and see the Robert Dunbar at Cloves who paid the duty on his horses in 1797-98 was born about 1734, the son of William Dunbar, squarewright, Quarrywood, and his wife, Jenna Forsyth. Robert married Isabella Naughty at Duffus on 29th January 1764 and he died in April 1811. He had a son, George, and a daughter, Ann. Libindx has got the information from the family gravestone, but maybe you already have all of this.

Just done a places search on Libindx and there is a reference to Cloves being set for 19 years in the Aberdeen Journal of 18-9-1787. That lease would run out in 1806. There is also a mention in the Aberdeen Journal of 9-8-1815 that the farm let was possessed by William Miller.
