Hi there,

Your post has landed itself on the section that includes the note (Please don't post requests here),  but I do recognise the red symbol as the Flanders Poppy, a token worn on 11 November  each year.  https://www.awm.gov.au/commemoration/customs/poppies/

I suppose someone will move it.

It's a poppy?  But it isn't 11 November.

But the threads with that symbol are on the Armed Forces Board  :)

Oh.  Perhaps there's a logic to it.  I dunno.

The logic is that we are, this year, commemorating the centenary of the start of WW1.  If you visit the WW1 forum, you will see the banner heading is full of poppies as well.

Added:  The poppies are also seen on the WW2 Forum - it's the 75th anniversary of the commencement of that war.

The poppies have been on the WW1 & WW2 boards since August.

You may also have noticed that some poppies have leaves, they indicate that there is an attachment in the topic, such as a photo of someone in uniform.

Ah, thanks.  No, I hadn't noticed.  I don't have a very military family so I seldom look at any military board.
