Conflicting dates of Birth, Marriage & Death COMPLETE
« on: Friday 08 August 14 10:43 BST (UK) »
I have been tracing my Quaker family of Fearons and find that the records held on Family Search and Ancestry differ from the Quaker records of Births Marriages and deaths which are hand written. Which are the more likely to be correct?

Morrell - Shropshire

You should place most reliance on the more original sources. Every time a record is transcribed there is a risk of errors being introduced.
Crackett, Cracket, Webb, Turner, Henderson, Murray, Carr, Stavers, Thornton, Oliver, Davis, Hall, Anderson, Atknin, Austin, Bainbridge, Beach, Bullman, Charlton, Chator, Corbett, Corsall, Coxon, Davis, Dinnin, Dow, Farside, Fitton, Garden, Geddes, Gowans, Harmsworth, Hedderweek, Heron, Hedley, Hunter, Ironside, Jameson, Johnson, Laidler, Leck, Mason, Miller, Milne, Nesbitt, Newton, Parkinson, Piery, Prudow, Reay, Reed, Read, Reid, Robinson, Ruddiman, Smith, Tait, Thompson, Watson, Wilson, Youn

The original Quaker records will be of most value, however there are some odd ways the records are written.
Julian calendar explained here
http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/julian-calendar.html
Month of birth is often shown as "10th day of fourth month"which i take to be April though pre 1752 the year started in April

Lady Day ... 25th of March.

Regarding the original question, on Family Search -
Births are usually baptisms
Marriages may be reading of Banns rather than the marriage itself
Deaths may be burials
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Thank you all. Some of the answers to my queries you have sorted i.e with reference to the Julian Calendar. I never thought that 31 of the 8th would be anything but the 31st August. I have now been corrected but there are still discrepancies. This information is very helpful so I will now try to sort out.
