I am no expert, perhaps that is why he chose to marry a second time under a different name, his first wife might have still been alive

I can't find a marriage that fits him first time around, he could of course have married out of his area if he was in a force somewhere

The plot certainly thickens I think he may have married whilst in the Army in India. I am going to try to search his Regiment for any marriages while in the military on Google.
Do you know of any Register that this might be in ?

I found his attestation papers for you, I don't think he was married as he listed parents and siblings

Perhaps if you could find out what regiment he was in it might reveal something, I don't know much about regimental  records

There must be deed pole records somewhere, I remember going to Chancery Lane and looked at a  name change, it was way back  almost 20 years, I have no idea where these records will be now,

You don't have to change your name by deed poll in England. You can call yourself what you like providing it is not for fraudulent purposes so there may not be any legal record.
