Where was this photo taken?
« on: Tuesday 21 January 14 09:49 GMT (UK) »
This is a restored version of an old photo - thank you ymfoster for the restoration. The photo is also a postcard with postage rates as follows - "Inland 1/2d and Foreign 1d" Thanks to jim1 for dating it 1907-18. My Grandfather, Robert Colquhoun, Auchensail Farm, Cardross, is standing 3rd from the left. The photo may have been taken in East Princes Street, Helensburgh across from the railway station but I'm not sure. I know there's not a lot to go on but can anyone help to identify where it was taken? Thank you.

I no longer think this was taken in Helensburgh so I'm looking at Dumbarton - can anyone help please?

I think I've solved the mystery! The photo was taken in Helensburgh at the corner of East Clyde Street/Sinclair Street. According to the Helensburgh Directory 1899/1900 (by MacNeur & Bryden) there was a Wine Merchant owned by John Mitchell at this address. I've looked on Google Earth and I'm sure the buildings are the same. Thank you to everyone who helped.
