Thomas was 1912 and I have his birth certificate, he was the first generation here in US. I have census info too from US. No problem until I go to entry into US, exit from Scotland or Liverpool, and back to UK roots.

Does the census info indicate when Ann arrived in US?

Re Ann and arrival - No but I have reason to believe it may have been 1910 in Boston. Just not positive, it was from a ship register (library) while I was in city.  Should have made copy of info  :(

I did find this on the new Familysearch site - Thomas Mcdermott born 20th Oct. 1912 Boston Mass.
parents James Mcdermott and Annie MECKLEJOHN
As Sancti was asking , did James Mcdermott sign the birth cert. ?
The 1930 census states that Ann arrived in USA in 1910

Ev, that is a great find on the new family search site for son Thomas birth which shows in more detail here https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11665-156069-33?cc=1536925 (wouldn't it be great if this sort of info was available everywhere!).

From that we have that James, father, was a mechanic by trade and Irish by birth. Mother Annie, as showing in 1930, was born in Scotland.

If James was Irish he would have been heading for Ireland in 1912.

There won't be a death for him in Scotland and he may have died on the journey. Were deaths aboard ships recorded at the port of arrival?

If the 1914 registered marriage of William and Catherine is the right family then, it took place at

St Saviour's RC church, Govan 30 December 1913

William was 26 and an Engineer's machinist

His parents were Simon John McDermott (gas engine keeper) and Margaret Nailan

1901 census

John Mcdermott 41 born Ireland
Margaret Mcdermott 41 born Shettleston Glasgow
Thomas Mcdermott 16
Annie Mcdermott 17
William Mcdermott 13
John Mcdermott 11
Margaret Mcdermott 9
Mary Mcdermott 7
William Nailen 62
