William Hughes

Living in Wolverhampton in 1871 is a William Hughes given as born in Wolverhampton in c 1858.He is showing as the son of a Samuel Hughes,a Salt Dealer born in Wrexham Denbighshire in about 1821.
RG10/2936/72/9.

It is believed that this Samuel died in 1879 but can anyone find the William in 1881 or 1891 please.

Many thanks,though it is I would have thought the same William from 1871 that you have found in 1901,I am in truth slightly disappointed!

I had the William Hughes as a possible candidate for one who married a Hannah Clarke at Wolverhampton in 1888 in what was apparently a Civil Marriage.

Hannah born in Lower Gornal Staffordshire in c 1863 is with her married sister Phoebe who was to marry an Abraham "Jones",in 1891 with son Samuel.Hannah is given as a widow in 1901 and a Housekeeper at the home of a Benjamin Benson in Macclesfield Cheshire.

Don't want to butt in but got an 1881 for Ann Lee his wife.

By 1891 the children have been left with granny  Ruth Davies and Anne is with William.

However there is no marriage that fits so could William simply have left his wife Hannah and she called herself a widow?

Thanks,the 1891 Census entry is but one of many I've looked at these past few days.

Of course I'm maybe putting too much on the naming of Samuel the first child but on the face of it there is no Samuel in Hannah's family.
