KING/ROLFE/SHARP/FOSKETT IN BUCK 1860'S
« on: Thursday 16 June 05 16:36 BST (UK) »
The following information proved to be a false tie in to my KING family --  "My" Charles did not marry this Elizabeth ----  married another Elizabeth nee unknown ---

Thought all this info was too good to discard --  may be of help to someone else's search.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact, I may have other related information of interest to you.  I have a hunch there is link in this muddle to my search but just don't know what the common denominator is yet.

Sources are a combination of IGI extracted, IGI member submittals, FreeBMD and census information.

I am descended from a ROLF or ROLFE family from Aston Clinton, possibly related to above.
If you believe in "naming-patterns", then you'll see why I wonder if there's a connection.

Thomas ROLFE - born unknown
married c1809 to -
Susannah, nee JOHNS, b.c1793; parents William JOHNS, soldier, & Frances, maiden name n/k
The story goes that they had 23 children !
Thomas predeceases Susannah.  I suspect that he has died no later than 1857.
So far, the few items that I have uncovered in English records have this ROLFE family in Aston Clinton.

Their sons David & John migrate to Van Diemen's Land in 1842. They marry, start families, and move to Victoria in early 1850s, where more kids are born.

In 1857, the matriarch Susannah and one daughter migrate to Victoria; followed by Four sons.

Most of these have families:
 the names Thomas, John, George, William, and Joseph, are repeated with great frequency in the generations that follow.

I have found records for the family with various spellings -
RALFE;
ROFF;
ROFFE;
ROLF;
ROOF;
ROOFE; &
RUFF,
but from 1880s, they are consistently spelling their name ROLFE.
