Attached is the Wedding photo of Frederick Valentine Mills and Amy Gertrude Foster in Papanui Christchurch in early 1900s. On the right hand side of the porch is Alexander Charles Mills in the rear. In front of him are unknow but I summise it maybe the brothers & sisters of Frederick Valentine Mills. Emma Mills nee Loader is on the left hand Porch next to the column. To the left of her is an unknown family relative. She is prominant throughout the photo albums I have. It may possibly be Emily Emma Mills nee Webb (1813-1901) but I will have to double check the date of the wedding.

Anyone have any old family photos that might help identify the people?

Hi Robinso

That is amazing. Thanks so much for posting these. Do you mind if I ask where you got these photo's from? Have they been passed through the family? Do you know if any of the brothers in the photo might be Edward James?

Is it possible for you to load them at a higher resolution at all? I can barely make out details once I open them.

Thanks so much again

Jac

The marriage certificate for Frederick Valentine Mills and Amy Gertrude Foster is dated 1st January 1902.

Emily Emma Mills the mother of Alexander died 22nd December 1901 and is buried in Linwood cemetary. The previous photo submitted cannot be Alexander's mother Emily Emma Mills as she died before the wedding

The photo albums that I have were inherited from my late grandmother whose father was Frederick Valentine Mills

Hi Robinso

Edward James would be the brother of Alexander (both being the children of Alexander and Emily Emma Webb) as far as I can figure out!

Sorry if I am confusing you. I only stumbled across this information today and I am trying to figure out the lineage.

Thanks
Jacqui

Have a look at page 1 of this forum

James Edward Mills   Birth:  23 APR 1841    Saint Peter Port, Guernsey  Death:  1919
Father:  Alexander Mills    Mother:  Emily Webb

You may be able to track down where they are buried by searching the online Cemetary database at the Christchurch library.
