Found on the SP index

5 deaths for a James Paxton between 1871 -1956 -  b 1856 +- 1yr

3 marriages for an Isabella Paxton between 1881-1891

6 marriages for a Mary Paxton between 1871-1881 - 2 in East Lothian

Have you already viewed and eliminated those entries?

The mothers maiden names do not match on the searches that come up on ScotlandsPeople and i have crossed referenced any deaths with cemetery records and these do not match either. xx

Hi,
I'm sure you have noticed this on Freecen:

in 1841 in Yester there is one Paxton family headed by a Robert Paxton....wife Mary
in 1851 this same family is living in Whittinghame - wife is named as Mary BAILLIE.

in 1851 in Yester there is one Paxton family headed by a William Paxton....wife Mary.

From this thread looks like no marriage records to be found for William:

Any chance George the oldest was born to a Marion Bailie but the other children were to a Mary second name unknown?

Jen

EDIT - I can see from another thread MonicaL noted a correction on the census that stated Mary (wife to William) was also known as Marion Baillie.

For the avoidance of duplication of effort, http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=693686
is a previous topic on the same family
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
