William Webster b1828 Eckington
« on: Friday 18 April 14 13:19 BST (UK) »
Seeking information on William Webster, b1828 Eckington. Died 22/2/1895 Eckington. Married Jane Littlewood 21/6/1852, Ridgeway. They had 9 children.
William lived in or around Eckington all his life and was mostly a labourer/agricultural labourer.
His father was listed on his marriage certificate as William Rotherham, occupation butcher.
The brick wall is - who was his mother?

Can someone please help?
I am in Australia so do not have access to Parish Registers so would appreciate any help anyone could give in cracking this mystery.

thanks

Suz, the marriage witnesses were James Littlewood (bride's side) and Ann Rippon?. Unfortunately no Webster or Rotherham.

Carol, thanks for the info on those other sites, didn't have that info, a great help. Can you tell me, how do I go about getting the full content of the bastardy paper to see if I'm on the right track there?

thanks
Davo

Hi Davo

You could try getting in touch with the Derbyshire Records Office to order a copy of the paper. I think that is where they are kept.  You used to be able to order them from the Yesterday's Journey site, but I have heard he doesn't do it anymore.
