William Charles Peachey and Mary HAINES age at death and dob?

Hi

Although I believe William Charles Peachey Haines d 28/3/1869 Jersey, C I thanks to his Probate Record, we are still unsure as to his dob. His parents Hester & William were m in 1823 Bangalore, Madras, but I cannot find his dob, only that of his sister Susan

The only mention we have found is from The Register And Magazine Of Biography January 1869 which states: “At Jersey aged 101 Major William Charles Peachey Haines Madras Staff Corps”.....clearly this is an error, he and wife Mary were m 1854 India

I wonder if India, Select Deaths and Burials, 1719-1948 on A______Y would assist or is there a dod and age at death on the Jersey BMDs (as FreeBMD) Perhaps Mary's dod is there too (d 1879) Jersey

Thanks, I have seen these web addresses. However I believe I have to either hire a film or go to the British Library.

Isn't there an equivalent in Jersey of FreeBMD, that can be simply looked up or even a rref so that certificates can be purchased?

There is an equivalent of BMD in Jersey but it is not on-line. His death certificate, which would cost you £20, will not give a date of birth, only his age (as far as the informant knew) at death.

As this one appears to be at the British Library you could always try posting to see if someone is visiting there and whether they could look at it for you.

The entry in the St Helier death registers for William Peichy Haines gives his age at death as 41, his occupation as Major, armée des Indes and his cause of death as Paralysie (probably a stroke).
