It is starting to look interesting in that it would appear that maybe Mary Ann nee O'Brien had a sibling in New Zealand. Hopefully between us, Gabbs and I may be able to build on the information we individually have.

My Ellen O'Brien married John Horan at St Josephs Church Dunedin NZ Dec 6 1876.
Ellen died age 63 on 30 Aug 1913, she is buried at the Southern Cem Dunedin.
John Horan died age 67, Aug 20 1917.

Elizabeth Mary (Eliza) born 1877
John born 1879 Dunedin
Norah Eleanor born 1881
Mark Thomas born 1886
Owen Matthew born 1887

Hi, i just saw the posts, and wondering if you may know of an Owen Horan who had a daughter Honoria,as well as other children. Honoria married Thomas Bosson in Chriistchurch 1916.I am trying to find the parents of Owen.Probably a long shot,but you never know unless you ask, thank you.

 James Casey, 1852 Blackfriars, Glasgow, just before wedding certificates were issued, iv'e no idea as to where Mary Ann was born or who her parents were.

I am sorry I can't help with your Horan connection. Through this forum I found out that my great-grandmother had a sister who also emigrated to New Zealand and married a Horan; the information kindly supplied by Gabbs. However I was told a few weeks ago that this Rootschatter is no longer contactable.

Have you tried obtaining Honoria's birth* printout? This may have useful information about her father's birthplace depending on the year of registration. See NZ BDM website for "Data Collected". If possible obtain a printout for a child born after 1876.........
