Robert Roberts - help to locate in 1861, 71 and 81 please

 Robert Roberts was born in Llanberis, Denbighshire in 1859. He married Jane Jones in 1889 but by 1891 he was a widower boarding at 9 Rutland Street in Runcorn. He was a merchant seaman and died when he was only 39. I would really like to find him in the 1861, 71 or 81 census but I have had no success at all.

Do you have his fathers name from the marriage certificate ?

You will keep looking forever trying to find a listing for him in Llanberis Denbighshire!Llanberis is in Caernarvonshire,home of the picturesque Llanberis Pass.

Having said that,the only ones showing earlier than 1891 are Slate Quarriers!

Thanks both. I don't have a fathers name but that tells me my next step is to purchase the marriage certificate.

Actually, I have trawled through my notes and documents and can see his father was Thomas Roberts, Quarryman.

This might be the marriage  on Ancestry.
Marriage St Davids Church Liverpool by Banns.
24 th April 1889
Robert Roberts 30 ba mariner 24 Dodge St. ? father Thomas Roberts quarryman.
Jane Jones 29 sp 24 Dodge Street . father Elias Jones quarryman.
Both signed , witnesses – Edward Lewis, Sarah Ann Davies.
