Needing help tracing the Harper family from linlithgow
« on: Friday 01 November 13 16:23 GMT (UK) »
I would appreciate any help any one can give me tracing my family who I believe are from the Linlithgow area of Scotland
My Great Grand father x4 is James Harper born in 1771 in Linlithgow He married Hannah Dobie who I believe was from Lasswade and born in 1795
James Father was George Harper and he married Elizabeth Finlay
George's Father was Murdo or Murdoe or Murdow Harper who married I think Mary or Elizabeth Graham
Now I know that James moved to the Bristol area of St Mary Redcliffe and lived in William Court where his occupation is listed as a mariner ? but was still in Scotland in1833 because his son also called James was born there as were 2 other siblings.
If any can help me or believes that we may be related please do not hesitate to get in touch with me
Once again thank you for your time
Steve Harper

Hello Steve,

Have a look at the site

www.memento-mori.co.uk/‎

St Michael's Churchyard, Linlithgow is in the burial location indices and there are "Dobie" burials listed. Unfortunately, no Harpers. Linlithgow Cemetery also listed.
