Hello Margaret,
I would be happy to give ALL I have on the Freeman Family.
I have my line back to the late 16 hundreds ~ see below.
Here is my descent line with list of each FREEMAN family. Not sure if it will fit this forum but here goes.
I could send you lots source material, OPR data etc, but that would have to be by ordinary snail mail and I would need an address.

Descendants of:
John FREEMAN = Isobel JEAMIE  m. 2nd April 1681
to Mary MACKIE FREEMAN  b. 13 Sept,1919 (my mother)
My maternal family line can be traced back to John Freeman and Isobel JEAMIE who are our earliest known ancestors.  The basic outline of this descent line came from a cousin John (Jock) WATT.  He tells me the initial work was by another cousin, Agnes FREEMAN, one of the Gourdon family.  Agnes was married to Sandy Clerk of Johnshaven.  I think both are now deceased.

Sandy Pittendreigh

John FREEMAN = Isobel JEAMIE  m. 2nd April 1681 in Bervie Parish
Source: BERVIE Old Parochial Register  #254
They had three children.  Source: Bervie baptismal records
John  b. 4th April 1684
Alexander  b. 30th Aug 1691 =  …?...  [see Note #1]
Margaret  b. 16th Jan 1699
[Alexander FREEMAN, fisherman in Gourdon, is recorded in the Bervie parish baptismal records as fathering six children between 1713 and 1728.  The Bervie clerk did not record the mother’s name in any of the six register entries.  The clerk was recording baptisms not births.  So presumably it was fathers who presented their child ren for baptism.  The same is true of other baptisms in the period.  It may be that mothers were not considered to be important enough at this time.]
Alexander FREEMAN = …?...   [I have searched and not found any marriage record that fits.]
[All I found was the following marriage among the OPRs for Kincardineshire for this period:
29th June 1725  Alexander FREEMAN in Bervie parish married Elspet CORMAK in Kinneff & Catterline parish.
This marriage does not fit the dates of the Bervie baptismal records, but no other marriage for an Alexander FREEMAN was recorded in Kincardineshire in this period.  The surname CORMAK does appear in other records relating to both Johnshaven and Gourdon fisher families.]
Alexander was father to six children.  Source: Bervie OPR
Alexander  b. 5th Sept 1713
John  b. 16th Sept 1716
Margaret  b. 1st July 1718
Robert  b. 12th Feb 1721
William  b. 12th June 1726
James  b. 8th June 1728 = Margaret ALLAN,  m. 1757
James FREEMAN = Margaret ALLAN, m. 4th February 1757 in Bervie
They had eight children.  Source: Bervie OPR
Janet  b. 7th Nov 1757
James  b. 3rd April 1760
Isobel  b. 4th May 1762 = John RITCHIE m. 9th March 1782
Mary  b. 2nd Sept 1764
Elizabeth  b. 6th Nov 1766
Alexander  b. 24th March 1769 = Elizabeth LOWNIE  m. 1797
David  b. 23rd March 1771

David  b. 22nd Oct 1797
James  b. 17th Aug 1799 = Ann CRIGGIE  m. 28th June 1824

Alexander  b. 22nd Nov 1804
Andrew  b. 14th March 1808
Walter  b. 14th March 1808 = Elizabeth CRIGGIE  m. 1834

Walter FREEMAN = Elizabeth CRIGGIE  m. 5th December 1834 in Bervie

Walter died  2th March 1886 aged 78 years
Elizabeth died  14th Feb 1885 aged 75 years
They had eight children.
Elizabeth [1]  b. 22nd Nov 1835
[She probably died in infancy before 1841,
Death registers for Bervie have been ‘lost’.]

Alexander  b. 16th June 1839 = Jane DAVIDSON  m. 1st April 1864

Christian CRIGGIE  b. 11th June 1843 = David RITCHIE  m. 21st December 1866

Hi

I have just seen all the information on Freeman and I have been looking for this myself.
My grandfather was Walter Freeman married to Isabella Adam on 27th August
1898 at Benholm. I never knew them they both died before I was born
and I have tried to find out where they are buried with no luck. My own family
have all died now apart from one brother and I am interested in researching
my family tree - the info supplied by Johnner Kid is excellent and I would be
interested if you could send me more details by post.

Regards
Dot Stone

Hi Dot,
I'm guessing but the clue I'm using is your Montrose Kid ID.
If Walter and Isobella are also your grandparents you are probably from the line of one of my mothers older sisters. Isabella, Annie or Jean probably the latter, or have I got that wrong.  If I'm correct with my guessing then your brother would have been called Lester.
I suppose you have gathered that we are not allowed to post e-mail addresses or personal addresses on this forum.  We have, to use PMs (Personal Messages) for that but we can't do that until you have made a few more posts.

When we manage to share addresses I will gladly share all I have on the Freeman's they are quite a large family.  Just thought of a possible way around it but the moderator may jump on that too.  anyway here goes -- I have website on graveyards at http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~dfsgal
if you access that and scroll to bottom left hand corner you can contact me there.
Cheers,
Sy Pitt

Good Morning from Alberta Canada,
I am Gord Guthrie and my mother was Doreen Blease who was the sister to David M. Blease married to Isabel Freeman. If anyone would like to exchange info I would love to hear from you as I only have Isobel's parents names. If you want to connect to the Canadian line-up just holler LOL

Hi Gord,
As you can see from an earier Post of mine , I have researched my mother's line extensively taking the FREEMAN line back a long way.
I think the parents you are referring to are
James DONALDSON BEATTIE FREEMAN = Mary McBAY
m. 30 Dec 1933, Benholm Parish
I will need a few days to lookout the details of their link into my Freeman line.
When I do I will send you a PM with the detail.
Are you also interested in the McBAY line?

Sy
PS
In my teens I knew David (deceased a few years now).
We were in the same Army Cadet group in Johnshaven in the late 40s/early 50s.
I recall David joined the Army and became a PE instructor.

After checking my sources I'm sure we are on the same tack. The common ancestor linking Isabel and David to the Freeman line given above are Walter Freeman and Elizabeth Criggie.
See chart below.  If you want a higher resolution copy you will need to use the PM facility to send me an email address that accepts attachments. I can also let you have copies of OPRs & SRs to validate the genealogical connections listed.
