Renfrewshire photographs
« on: Friday 23 July 10 15:28 BST (UK) »
I am a keen photographer and family historian living in Renfrew. If any one is looking for any photos of sites in Renfrewshire and is unable to get here give me a shout and I will see if I can help. I have many photos of historical sites around Renfrewshire and am happy to go and get others if it helps anyone in their family history quest. As I seem to spend half my time wandering around cemeteries looking for graves or memorials would be no problem. I will happily pass on any photos I get free of charge.

Hello Stephen what a generous offer. If by any chance you are in a cemetary in Greenoch (WEST?) not sure. I should have relatives there William McLean d. 1887 39 years wife Margeret Blackburn(she wont be there) son of Hugh McLean and Jean Bryce also Alexander Blackburn and Jean McIntosh d. 1861 and 1883 respectively formerly of Lochwinnoch.
In Lochwinnoch George McIntosh wife Jean Jamieson born late 1700's died ?????
John Blackburn wife Ann Wallace b. 1780'ish. died ???????
I don't know if there is enough info to find anyone and I'm not expecting anything so no pressure.
Wish I could be there to look myself - would be such fun. One day maybe.
Cheers from Down Under NZ

Hello Stephen,

When you are out and about in Greenock cemetary I wonder if you would be so kind as to let me know if you come upon a 'Tomney' grave.

My great great grandmother Mary Tomney died in 1879 and my great great grandfather John Tomney died in 1885, I believe that they are both  buried in Greenock cemetary.

They were both Irish born, moving to England in 1851 and then to Scotland by 1861 where they ended their days. My great great grandfather was a clothiers broker and had a shop at 36 Shaw Street Greenock. Their religion was Roman Catholic and they apparently worshiped at St Lawrences Church.

Also, if you do happen to come upon their grave, I would be most interested to know whether any of their children were buried with them.

I know it's a long shot but nothing ventured nothing gained.

Jean.

Hello Stephen,

My Stewart family once lived in Waverley Lane and when my g grandfather John Stewart married he listed his address as Waverley Buildings. Do you know where this lane/building is & do you have any photographs of the area.

Thanks so much in advance & a great offer for all.

Hi sharon,

The address means nothing off the top of my head, is it in Paisley?

Thanks Stephen & thank you Elaine.

The link states that Waverley Lane run from Westburn Street to Sugarhouse Lane, my family also lived in Sugar House Lane & found a picture on the same site.

Thanks again
