Dool (Tamlaght O'Crilly)
« on: Thursday 24 March 11 01:21 GMT (UK) »
All help greatly appreciated!!!

William (a weaver) and Mary (nee???) DOOL lived in Tyanee.  Mary was born about 1796 and died Dec 1871. Know they had two daughters who immigrated to Australia.  They also had at least 4 other daughters (according to census 1831).

Daughter - Ann Dool - supposedly born 20 Nov 1816 in Tyanee, Tamlaght O'Crilly.  Immigrated to Sydney Australia Sep 1853.  Married John Smith in 1854.  Immigrated to NZ about 1861/62. Died NZ 1917. This is my line.

Daughter Elizabeth Dool born about 1832.  Immigrated to Sydney Australia 1852.  Married Robert H King 1855.  Died NSW 1900.

Also know that in 1831 census at Tyanee there were two other Dool families.  Hugh + family, and John + family.

Any details / info of the Dool families in Tyanee more than welcomed.  If anyone could find the death of William Dool (should be after Mary's death in 1871) that would be fantastic.  Or any other Dool deaths / births.  Any thing welcomed.

THANK YOU  :)

May be connected- see www.proni.gov.uk
"Administration of the Estate of Robert Doole late of Tyanee County Londonderry Farmer who died 10 January 1891 granted at Londonderry to John Doole Farmer."

Civil registration index is online (free) but I can't see any William Dool old enough to be the one you are looking for.

There is a "Dool" recorded in Tamlaght O'Crilly Parish Graveyard (no 97) on this site...

Unfortunately there's no information other than the surname...it might be possible to follow it up ?

There are also some Dooles in the Londonderry Protestant Householders' Returns (1740) and the Hearth Money Rolls [1663]...here

Jane Doole to John Hipson  29 Sep 1851 in Magherafelt
Bride's Father's Name: William Doole.

Also  Martha Doole b.1830 marriage to James Boden b.1828 on 29 Mar 1855 in Portglenone, Ant, Ireland
Bride's Father's Name: William Doole
Portglenone is very close to Tyanee...just a couple of miles...maybe they married in his parish! I couldn't find any Boden's in Portglenone in the 1901 census but there are some in Magherafelt

Could these be sisters of Ann and Elizabeth...they all got married around the same time.

This is probably a better match

Marrage of Jane Dool to  Campbell French on  03 Oct 1850 in Tamlagth, Derry, (Tamlaght ?)
Brides father William Dool
Grooms father William French

There are French's in Tyanee in 1901

The Frenchs and the Dools are living next door to each other.

Hi Judith.
I'm related to a James DOOLE "of Portglenone Congregation", whose parents were Jno DOOLE and Anne FRENCH "of Tyanee". He married on 29 May 1833 in Kilrea.  He is my Great Great Grandfather.
Would love to find a connection. Happy to exchange information.
regards
David
