Oh yeah, why didn't I realise that the additional character was a v  ::).

Thanks both.

Now onto the search for the missing link; their assumed son Ralph (no surprise there), who I reckon was born in 1625 + or - one year). I wish the Sandford family would not bounce around the surrounding parishes so often!

Actually, does the surname look like Sandford rather than Samford (i.e. is that almost horizontal line before the f making a d?)
