Hi Paul,

Sometimes accidents were recorded in the local newspapers so might be worth a try there. They often give more detail than death certificates, etc, but it's always handy to have them too!

Do you know the names of your great-grandparents? This would help to narrow down a time frame for William's birth and hopefully lead to some details of his death for you.

hume :)

When was your grandmother born?

Was her brother younger or older?

Do you know roughly what age he was when he died?

Found this on the NAS catalogue search:
SC36/30/1920/76      Fatal Accident Inquiry: William Kerr, shipwright, 4 White Street, Govan, Glasgow, died on 17 April 1920.
Hope it helps

Hi Paul
The site is the National Archives of Scotland at
http://www.nas.gov.uk/
Click on "Catalogues and Indexes."
I found this source while investigating a relation of mine who had fallen into the River Clyde along with the crane he was working on and I found that there had been a Fatal Accident Enquiry.  You can also order a copy of the document from them.
Cheers
