Ethel Gertrude Edna Ford (née Bryant)
« on: Tuesday 30 September 14 13:13 BST (UK) »
My ancestor Ethel died in Sonoma, California, in 1980.  It was a surprise to find that out.  What was she doing in Sonoma at 97?  The last I knew was that she was living in Wiltshire, England, in the 1950s with husband Percival John Ford.

Can anybody advise me on US databases I could search to find out when Ethel went to the US and where she lived?  I've tried Ancestry.

Is her daughter deceased too?  Just checking because, you might not be aware of it, but it is against the rules of Roots Chat to post about people who are or may be living.

The Social Security death index says that Ethel last resided in Lakeport, Lake Co., California and her Social Security number was issued in California in 1965.  https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V324-K2L

It looks like the Lake Co. library will do obituary look-ups for free, so it might be worth checking if they have one for Ethel - http://www.co.lake.ca.us/Government/Directory/Lake_County_CA__Library/Genealogy/Query.htm
