Isabella must have died pre- 1855 Fred, I've looked for deaths too. Unless she was recorded with wrong maiden name but considering the boys used her proper name on the occasion of their marriage that's not very likely :-\

I'll mark my tree with her death between the census dates. You are right, it's more likely to be pre 1855 because no reg can be found.

Blackley is one of my main lines so on to the next one - another Isabella.

Can I ask if anyone researching these Jacks knows of any link to a Mary Jack who married John McMillan in Glasgow and they had a son named John Jack McMillan. Mary's father was John Jack and her mother was Janet Miller. Just wondered if there was a connection.
