where did you get the date of birth from as there does not seem to be a birth registered in that quarter of the year for him.

FamilySearch has several candidates in 1914, just not for someone born in November.  There is this one (would he have been Thomas Francis?):

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FBTX-84Q

However, a crosscheck on the RootsIreland website search index doesn't show the parents for this one as John and Mary.  A search of the RootsIreland website index for a Thomas McHale with parents John and Mary brings back a 1914 baptism, but there's no guarantee it's him.  Record content is pay to view.

Entirely possible. Is Foxford close or part of Castlebar?

Thanks

Gavin

Foxford is between Ballina to the north and Castlebar to the south, a bit closer to Ballina.

Still no guarantee it's him, but the parish for this baptism is Templemore / Straide RC parish, which is on the money for Foxford.

Thank you for the reply dathi and gaffy

I am researching a friends history whom has found his family after 50years.
He was taken from his mum and shipped to Australia when he was 2 years old.

He reunited with his mother and three siblings, however his Dad (Thomas McHale) unfortunately passed away in the December 1966.

The information has come from his new founded family.
Is there a chance that some births weren't recorded?

If we definitely know the marriage and death date - can we use that to track him.

Any other assistance or advice would be appreciated

Regards

Where do I get a copy of the birth cert for Thomas MacHale?
That you have found..

The more I look at it the more I think it maybe him.

The website is called RootsIreland: https://www.rootsireland.ie/

If you search the RootsIreland 'Baptismal/Birth Records' for Thomas McHale, specifying father's first name as John, mother's first name as Mary,  year as 1914 (+/- 0 years), only 1 match will come back.

BTW, it's important to note, it's not a birth certificate on this website, it's just a transcribed church baptism record.  However, if the date of birth in the transcribed record was same / similar to what you know, then that would be interesting.

But as mentioned, while Templemore / Straide RC parish is on the money for Foxford, there are no guarantees that this is your guy.
