Hi,

There is a baptism of a George Metcalf -

5th April 1846
Parents John Jonathan and Charlotte
Abode - Fishtoft
Father's occ - Labourer.

Now here's something interesting ...

Marriage at Fishtoft 18 May 1864 (yes 1864)
John Jonathan METCALF (son of Thomas) to Charlotte WAKEFIELD (dau of Roland)

There seems to be a baptism for Charlotte in 1830, so she may have been rather young in 1846. ;)

 :D

Ah, I can definitely answer that one - it was a different Charlotte. John Jonathan married Charlotte Gower in 1841, and she is George's mother. She died in 1860, however, and Charlotte Wakefield, who was a servant, married John Jonathan in 1864.

That's brilliant JJ, thanks for your help! Maybe you could teach me how to use LttP - I'm really confused by it - I've just tried searching for this info and I couldn't even find something I know you've found there!

You will need to register to gain access to the site.
Then click on 'advanced search'
On the first line type 'fishtoft baptism 1846'
You will then see Baptisms 1813 -1869
Click on the image and then jump to page 33
George's baptism is on the right-hand page at the top.

Link to the above page -

Hope that helps.

JJ

Superb, thank you. In the meantime I did manage to find it without being registered, but I'll do that anyway. It's just a bit odd to me how the records are all laid out in different levels.

Yes, you're right, I should have checked.  They married at Wainfleet St Mary 23 Nov 1841.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.
