Is there a known tythe map predating the building of the present properties? If so, it would determine whether these are replacement dwellings or new build.

Hi

Just came across some old article in "Hertfordshire Countryside" Nov 2008 which states that the manor of Hitchin, which is very close to the Wymondleys:

"Three of Henry VII's wives, Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn and Jane Seymour...are also among the women who have held the manor".

Interesting, sounds as though the title was passed on the the next Queen in sequence after the divorce and execution. Does beg the question why not the next three?

has anyone got any information on the history of seymour cottage and boleyn cottage in great wymondley hitchin. They used to be two cottages but are now one and just known as boleyn cottage. I have found that they were built in 1818 but i am interested in anything else about them. There are four cottages altogether and are all thatched and were named after Henry viii 's wives. My partners son and his wife has just bought Boleyn cottage.

It appears that Henry VIII did have some connection to Hitchin and the surrounding area including Wymondley.

Also Delamere House, just down from these cottages on the opposite side of the road has supposed links to Cardinal Wolsey.
