When Ivan was admitted to Mt Cook Infants School in Wellington, on the 26 June 1913
Mt Cook Infants Wellington, the address was given as 79 Vivian Street.  The Parent/Guardian only has the Initial "S".

KHP, do you mean the entry shows guardian S. SAVAGE, or do you mean there is only the letter S?

Combing the Wise directories trying to locate Mary SAVAGE, I find this in 1913

Mrs Mary SAVAGE, 79 Vivian Street, Fruiterer.
With
Wm SAVAGE, Labourer

Now, generally speaking, married women did not work unless they were in need of supporting themselves.
There are some unanswered questions here ;D

Sue

Just the letter S, all the others have Walter as Parent/Guardian.   I wonder if the S is shorthand for Savage?

More Wise directory findings

1916 to 1926
Address 1 b Walter St,
SAVAGE Mrs Mary

No Occ, no others.

I am not at all familiar with area, but it seems not far from Vivian St.

Sue

PS.  ADDING
Walter SAVAGE had a brother named William.
I have no information about him, but perhaps Twibell knows his whereabouts in 1913 ::)

Sister in law perhaps (Walter jnr's wife)

Marriage
1928/8415 Ivy May THOMPSON to Walter SAVAGE

Death
1943/28817 SAVAGE Ivy May Aged  37Yrs

In 1936, the Electoral Roll sees Ivy and Walter SAVAGE at the same address.
Very damaged page, but he was a mechanic of some kind.

There is an Ivan who married two years after the Ivan that registered to vote in 1938 ... Sue's #13  Maiden name Guppy and the breavement notice is above the Savage one.

Could be that Ivan married again two years after wife died.

1944/16428   Savage    Carol May    35Y

These years are not showing yet on the BDM site.

PS:  As I am not a Wellingtonian, not sure what areas the Paper circulated.
