.... noting that his lady was aged 58 years when she died (born about 1883).

[Note:  No guarantees that the Walter SAVAGE death and the 1932 marriage have a link but still worth considering.   The lady who died in 1941 is of the same era as your Walter - it may well have been a second marriage for her (presumably the children mentioned in her death notice were born well before 1932 when she would have been aged 49-50. ?? )
