As I am only on ancestry.co.uk, I wonder if anyone can trace back from the marriage of Henry Dowling to Kathleen Edith Harrop in July/August 1930 in either London or Bognor Regis, England for ancestral data on Henry's parents, Mr and Mrs T L Downing?  I wonder if Mr and Mrs Dowling originated in the UK? If so, I can then trace them back in time from there.

There is a public tree on Ancestry that has TT Dowling the son of Henry Dowling and Eliza Tayspill. He was born Colchester, Essex in 1841. Parents were married in Launceston, Tasmania.

Thanks Janette and Eyesee,
I've been 'googling' all day and have a mound of data and newpaper clippings and photos that look fairly authentic for the Henry father of Thomas Tayspill Dowling, and Henry the father of that Henry .... Baptists to Mayors etc etc   However, your data about the family of TTD and Christine Ann Paxton Ballantyne is great, thanks ... I could not find these dates and venues. The 60+ year old TTD was quite a 'stud' eh! I hope Graham Dowling OBE [Black Caps skipper for a few years] my 2nd Cousin-in-law who my wife and I met in 1995 during the Oz v Sri Lanka Test Match at the MCG will get back in touch with me to confirm his Grandfather TTD's capability ! I will personal message you both with my website URL that I update fortnightly .... featuring Graham this week. All my searching started with the 1969 photo on FACEBOOK of the Blackcaps in England ... and I was the first to identify my CUZ Graham !
Slainte (Cheers),
Aye grateful to you for making this auld Scotsman born in 1939 in the shadow of the Wallace Monument, Stirling .....really happy :-)
