Hi. I've just started researching a Richards family from Abergwesyn, later in Llanygynider. However, it's the wife, Gwenllian, b 1782, who comes from Abergwesyn. Her husband, Edward, is from Cardiganshire. They had 2 children, Gwenllian b c1817 and Edward b c 1824. So far I haven't found any other children. Gwenllian the daughter had 3 children, no father in evidence, the eldest William, born in Abergwesyn c 1839. Elizabeth was born c1844 and Margaret c1849. The girls were born in Llangynider, where the family all seem to have moved to.
I've spent this evening on a fruitless search for them on the 1841 census - no trace so far.
Please do get in touch if this is or might be the same family, as I'd love to discuss it. I'm new to Welsh genealogy and on a steep learning curve!

Brien; Young (Gloucestershire and Manchester); Gleave; Wilson (Lincolnshire and Manchester); Brandish; Buxton; Govier; Hilton (Lancashire); Gerrard; Bishop (Gloucestershire).

I have access to a copy of the Register for Pantycelin Methodist Chapel in Abergwesin which covers most of the 19th century, and I'm willing to do 'look-ups' fi you think your ancestors might be hidden-away there.

Thankyou. If you were able to check for the Richards family detailed in the post above yours, that would be a huge help, as I've got no further with them.

Thankyou very much - no hurry. I'd rather put that family to one side after all my struggles with them! But it would be interesting to try...

Annesthreads,

Nothing on your specific requirements, but are you aware that the RICHARDS surname was often recorded as 'ap RICHARD' and was then mutated to PRICHARD or PRITCHARD? It's happened a few times in my line, so I am attaching the following:-
1828  17 Aug Gwen PRITCHARD of Bwlchdigor Isaf (death or burial)

1825  16 Jun  Margaret d of David & Gwen PRITCHARD of Tynllan, Llanddewi
1826   3 Aug  William s of                 ditto
1827  18 Sep  Eleanor d of                ditto
1830  27 Jun   David s of                   ditto                   of Caegwm, Llanfihangel
1832    7 Oct   John s of                    ditto
1834    3 Mar   Thomas s of               ditto

Incidentally, you might like to look at the couple of references to PRITCHARD in my reply to Graham earlier.

I hope that some of this is of use.
