So sorry to hear about Mike, he was so generous and helpful to me when I first started on here and I was searching for Leicester connections as a complete rookie.

Very sad indeed.

Dear Rachel

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to relay your sad news.

Mike helped me considerably both with Leicestershire ancestors and the Rutland contingent too.

He was patient, often going back and looking again if things weren't all they seemed at first.

Thinking of you and your family.

OH DEAR NO..

I am so sorry to be so late in noting this .......... forgive me, Dear MIKE, we shared so many lovely moments on here, remembering our 'interesting' school days at Medway... although we were there at different times, it gave us a special connection, bless you and thank you MIKE xxxxx
Also without his great knowledge and interest - I know half of my relations would still be waiting to be found....
Oh Mike, who am I going to go up onto the roof with now xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Forgive me Rachel, for sounding maybe a little to close to your wonderful Father, He was my 'fellow Medwayite'  and we shared a rememberance of treasured School days...
Such a special time and some one who remembered it with you - makes that person important in your life.  xxxxxx  Bless you and I hope you cope over the next few months by remembering how kind and sharing he was with his knowledge and time.

xxxxxxxxxxxx

xin

Xina.. Mike touched so many of us, no matter how far away we lived.
He told me his brother lives only a block away from me here in Christchurch NZ, amazing small world, and how we all connect in way or another.
He will be truly missed by all xx

Hi all or Greetings folks (think I'm allowed to use that)

Thank you so much your lovely comments and memories ... I've got such massive comfort in the last week from your posts and am so very proud of my Dad ... Always there to help whenever anybody needed him.

I know a few RC members and other researchers are based in leicester and myself and my siblings would welcome any of you to attend dad's funeral. The church service will be on the 24th February at Trinity Methodist Church (Narborough rd) at 11am followed by his cremation at Gilrose at 12pm. We will then go back to trinity for his "Bun Fight" as he always called it for 1pm.

Please feel free to pass this info on to anyone I may of missed and thanks also for posting on other forums that dad was a member.

Rachel x

ps someone mentioned putting a picture of dad up... I'm not sure if this is ok so for the min I have changed my profile pic to him.. bit small but if its ok with moderators RC etc. I'll post it bigger x

Hi Rachel

Thanks for coming back and posting again.

It's obvious from all these posts that Mike was a well-liked member of the forum and his help and research skills will be greatly missed.

I do hope that there are some contributors here who are able to attend his funeral.

And a slightly larger picture of your father can be posted here (as long as it fits the sizing guidelines  :) )

Lovely pic Rachel. Hoping to be at funeral, but will be in uniform from the "other side". Maggie
