Is it possible to find a list of employees employed at Llanedwyn Hall c1907-1908.

These sorts of records have usually been destroyed. However, this was a seat of the famous Wynn family, who owned a large amount of land in North Wales. You'll want to search where the Wynnstay estate records are held and start from there.

Hi, just found this site and your enquiery re. Llangedwyn Hall servants. My gt grandparents worked there aprox 1900s, Jones and Oliver, she was a maid and he worked on the farm. They were married in Llansyllin church and moved to South Wales to work in the mines. I would be interested if you have found out any further info. cheers.

I only travel to Oswestry/llangedwyn/llansilin/ area in the summer months. I will contact you if I do find anything else on employment records. I'm trying to find Elizabeth Ann Morris.

A couple of weeks ago Oswestry Library sent me to Ruthin Archive (in the old Jail - closed Mondays) when I was looking for info on a tenant on the Llangedwyn estate whose profession was 'Gardener' presumably at Llangedwyn Hall. They have a catalogue of four or five volumes for W.W.Wynne. I part of found an agents rent book for 1848 which named the person I was looking for, his rent and links to a tithe map showing his house and plots around the house. I also wrote to Llangedwyn Hall last week asking about info on tenants they might have. If they reply I'll let you know,

Thanks for the reply, I don't know why I've never looked up Watkins Wynn when I've been to Ruthin, I'll try that when I go again. I notice you have a Hughes interest in the llansilin area. That name possibly crosses my line in the same area.

I Will have to try and visit to get more information as my great grandmother, Margaret Lloyd, was caretaker at Llangedwyn Hall around 1900's and her husbandJohn also worked on the Estate possibly in the gardens then as handyman.  She was given some cottages in nearby Scrwgan on a peppercorn rent from the Estate
