William Ford b.abt 1821
« on: Saturday 18 January 14 02:35 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I'm looking for siblings/parents of William Ford, born abt. 1821 in Co Monaghan.  He married Sarah Trew (b. 1816), in 1842 in Co Cavan, and who died in 1905 in Wickliffe, Victoria, Australia.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks  :)

Hi,

I am researching James Ford of Monagan, born about 1822, married in Melbourne in 1844 and lived in Geelong, Ballarat and Broken Hill.

I have not been able to trace anything at all about him in Monaghan.  Perhaps he is related to your William Ford?  My James was protestant.

Jenny

He could be, Jenny, Ford seems a pretty common name from Ireland

Please keep in touch if you find anything to link our Fords! Very possibly they were some sort of cousins.

I have not found so many Fords in Monaghan.  I suspect they are Scots-Irish originally since they are Protestant.  My James seems to have some sort of family link to the Cherry family but the research seems very difficult.

Don't forget Forde... there is a Forde g/stone on IGP, no details just 'Forde'
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

There are truckloads of FORDEs in Monaghan-maybe he simplified his name somewhere along the line.  My FORDEs are as you suggest Presbyterian's of Scottish descent.
