Re: Jane or Jean Burt Whyte
« on: Tuesday 10 December 13 13:31 GMT (UK) »
Hello everyone
I am looking for anyone who has information about Jane Burt Whyte, born 12 February 1866 at Nappy Faulds, Slamannan, Stirlingshire. Her parents were John Tripney Whyte and Agnes Hunter. Jane appears on the 1871 Census but nowhere else that I can see.
The reason for my query is that I have been told of a rumour in my mother's family that she had an Auntie Jean in Australia. Jane was my mother's aunt.
I wondered if anyone had any information which might lead me to tracing Jane and what happened to her.

Many thanks in advance

Isabel

Hi
In the 1871 Census Jane was age 5 living with parents John Whyte and Agnes Hunter at Stonerigg, Slamannan. John was a coalminer. Jane's birth cert shows she was born at Nappy Faulds, Slamannan.

Hello Rosie17

Many thanks for  your help. I have found the record on the 1881 Census and it certainly could be her. I have searched the scotlandspeople for both a marriage or a death but haven't found her.
I'll keep trying and may stumble on it when I least expect it.
Thank you for trying

Maybe try and put Jane in without a surname date of birth and where she is born and see what comes up

Hello Rosie17
Many thanks for the sugestion. I have tried this along with as many other combinations of facts I can think of. But nothing I have found so far is positive although there are several possibilities. I have also used up quite a few of my scotlandspeople credits checking out possible marriages or deaths but none of them have the right parents. so just what happened to Jane is still a mystery.
Thanks
Isabel
