Can someone please do a look-up on the 1891 and 1901 census for Arthur James Canton born circa 1887, Llanishen, Cardiff.  Occupation of father William, police constable.

In 1901 they are living at the police station in Graham Street, Merthyr Tydfil, where William (46) is now an inspector.

With wife Margaret, children William (17, solicitor's clerk), Albert (15), Arthur (13), Margaret (11) and Gwladys, aged 9, born Llanishen. 

William's brother Timothy (31) is living there too, as a sergeant.

Marriage to Emily D Morgan Q1 1916 in Merthyr Tydfil.

Possible 2nd marriage in Neath in Q4 1945 in Neath.

Death in Neath in Q4 1978, matches birth date in baptism record.

Thanks for your time and help on this one, which is much appreciated.  Have you used the newspaper archives since they moved them out of the library?  I don't get down to Newport Road that often so I've not been to the new location.

Hi Roy, no I haven't, hadn't heard where they'd been moved to actually!

My next newspaper search will probably be at Bargoed - needle in a haystack but want to look for a reported photo of my husband's great grandfather and brothers and brothers-in-law during WW1 entitled 'Fighting Llanbradach family.' It apparently also includes a photo of his GG grandfather in uniform - saying he fought at Isandlwana - but the army has no record of him  :-\

Best of luck with your search, I was at Bargoed Library last Wednesday for a WW1 Talk, held in the old chapel; its a lovely old building, the staff are accommodating and I find Bargoed easier to get to than Dumbells Road, where the newspapers are held.
