Evening all,
i get a bit confused when asking for a lookup in a town that is on a county border,
my example is Hadstock on the census returns 1901 it is listed as essex, google places it in cambridgeshire, i also have family from nearby linton which on census returns says cambridgeshire.
so my question is where best to place lookup request for hadstock in both counties or cambridgeshire?
i don't wish to waste anybodys time
regards,
kim

First try looking up Genuki UK http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/to find out where would be best.
Here is the parish page for Cambridge
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/CAM/ParishIndex.html and here is the one for Essex

I'm sure you wouldn't waste anyone's time. You could always explain it might possibly be in either county when you ask for the lookup, Kim. Interestingly enough. Genuki claims Hadstock is in Essex.

Best not to place your query in both counties however, this causes duplication of effort by people who are looking.

Kedington is in Suffolk. It is near the Suffolk/Essex border but in one Ancestry census in the electronic index it is listed as Essex.
