Allard/Allord/Allwood - Wetheringsett

Just wondering if anyone else other than myself has any information on the Allard family tree. As I have said many times before, ten years ago I and others hit a proverbial brick wall with the marriage of James Allard and Mary Potter at All Saints church Wetheringsett. 17 May 1773. There are many variations prior to this date in the form of Allwood, if only I could find the birth of James Allwood and locate his parents, then the door I feel sure would at long last be opened. Any information would be most appreciated.

Looking in the International Genealogical Index (IGI) I find a Elizabeth Allard getting married on 17 Sep 1721, in Cavendish, Suffolk wonder if her family had any James Allard/Allwood within it.
Another was Mary Allard married 8 April 1739, wonder if she had a brother James. Then I found a Ann Allwood born on the 13 June 1673 in Ipswich, did her family have a James perhaps. Mary Allwood married 13 Dec 1757 in Elmswell, Suffolk, brother James perhaps and several others:
Mary Alwood married 30 Jan 1686, St Matthews Church, Ipswich
Anne Allwood, married 2 Oct 1574 Fressingfield, Suffolk
Agnes Allwood, married 2 Oct 1575 Fressingfield, Suffolk.  So many possibilities, but how does one follow them through?
Any advice or assistance would be most appreciated.

There were only two marriages occurring in Wetheringsett for an Allwood or Alwood.
No other Allard marriages listed at all in the area.
James Allard marrying Mary PettEr or Potter 17/5/1773 (n.b there were 4 other "Potter" family marriages in Wetheringsett between 1754/1792.
John Allard marrying Susan Ward 18/2/1799
Elizabeth Alwood married John Blakes in Mendlesham 9/11/1797
Edward Allerd married Sophy Wade in Mendlesham 3/7/1809

Yes these are all distant relatives that originate from James & Mary, my quest is to find out where James and Mary originated. If I could trace James parents would be able to take the family tree back another generation. Thanks for your information though, much appreciated indeed.
