Help finding records for Nora
« on: Monday 31 March 14 10:08 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
Nora Finn was my 1st cousin 2xremoved. She was the youngest of 10 children born to Philip Finn (1864-1928)and Bridget Murphy (1861-1948).

She was born May 3, 1902 in Ballyclave, Killorglin, Co Kerry, Ireland
Baptised May 4, 1902 in 3 May 1902 in Ballycleave (Ballyclave), Killorglin, Co Kerry, Ireland

A relative who undertook a lot of research into the Finn family line also has her dying in 1902.  To date though, aside from the above record, I can't find birth / death records. I have looked under different christian names but can't find anything which matches location, which should be Tralee (I think).

Her siblings were

Mary Finn 1884 – 1904
Catherine (Katey) Finn 1885 – 1954
Julia Finn 1887 – 1979
Patrick Finn 1889 – 1934
Bridget Finn 1891 – 1965
Thomas Finn 1893 – 1964
John Joseph Finn 1896 – 1981
James Phillip Finn 1898 – 1979
Johanna Finn 1900 - 1986

Any help appreciated.  Thanks ;D
Researching: Cronin / Nolan - Gortadrislig, Kerry
Finn/Clifford - Callinafercy and Scort, Kerry
Spillane - Milltown

I think Killarney might be a better option as the district for this family. You can check if you have them on the census return by looking for the Poor Law union.

there's a birth in 1902 and death th eyear after on the index that may be correct

Thanks athacliath, that's her. Can you tell me how you found her on familysearch as I too searched prior to posting and didn't get those results?

Thanks ballydw, I did have them on the census.  Can I ask which site you found this record on? I had used familysearch, yet not found the entries athacliath posted? I had also searched FindMyPast and Ancestry.

nothing special about the search, just used the Irish BMD Index on familsearh, entered Nora and Finn in the names fields and 1902 as year of birth, second birth entry was the 1902 in Killarney dist., then selected the option to filter the results to death place / Ireland which showed two results, one poss. Hanora Finn death 1903 age 1 also in Killarney dist.
