Hi diy

Have you viewed his death entry on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk to see what was recorded for his parents' details?

Added:  :-\ That won't help will it...parents' details blank.

To help others searching, the family in 1851:

Isaac Brookes 36 nailer b. Dunbar
Helen Brookes 30 b. Falkirk, Stirling
William Brooker 9
Mary Brooker 6
John Brooker 3
Isaac Brooker 1

Address: Geo Square Camelon, Stirlingshire

From her death entry in 1884 and reported by Isaac,  Helen is given as the illegitimate daughter of a Mary Anderson.

Just adding this info in case it is relevant, given we have a John Brooks with Isaac in 1841:

www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/SearchResults.pl?RecordType=Baptisms&RecordID=11262892

If John Brooks is father to Isaac, maybe a clue to mother etc.

Hi all,

There is a John Brook who married a Margaret Kellie, who had a daughter Jessie in 1824 at Dunbar. I find a Jessie Brook in 1841 census in Haddington staying with a Helen Kellie and a Robert Kellie a draper in Haddington. There was an Alexander Brook brother of Jessie there too.

In 1851 there is a Wm M Brook 50 yo staying with her brother Robert Kellie in Haddington, she has son Robert Brook with her. So this family is looking promising, but no record of Isaac.

Tom
Scotland - Buchanan, Thomson, Pat(t)erson, Stewart, Ritchie, Tracey
Ireland - Tracey, Conroy, Pat(t)erson.

looks promising, I wonder where Isaac was during the 1841 census :-\ I wonder if there has been a transcriber error with one of the names?

wonder if this is perhaps a different Family, John Brook vs John Brooks. The FreeREG entry monicaL linked to has a John Brooks who is also a nailor. However dates don't match census records. The John Brooks mentioned above was born 1797 which would make him 44 in 1841 census not 64 mentioned below ???

I think you might be mis-reading the entry from freereg... :)

The year of 1797 is the child John's birth and christening year in Dunbar, to parents John, a nailer and mother Janet Richardson.
