Cowshot. Pirbright

I have just found a marriage licence that gave the female came from Cowshot Pirbright, I thought
cowshot was in Hants down on the coast, is there one in the Pirbright parish as written on the licence,
as the lady has a fairly common surname for this area in Surrey ie, Stevens, and being born about
1780, the Hants one is Calshot, as the incumbent writes what he hears some help would be good.

Cowshot Manor is a listed building in Pirbright.  It's sometimes referred to as in Brookwood.  The area nearby is also called Cowshot Common.  I presume that the area was the estate for the manor and your girl may have been the daughter of one of the estate employees?

Did you check out Cowshot Manor on Google?  It's a rather flash and hugely expensive b & b now.  As we've lived about 15 minutes drive away for 42 years, I wonder why I didn't think of that???
