Lost Family on Census
« on: Wednesday 23 July 14 11:29 BST (UK) »
Hi

Please could anyone pick up an Edward Carter on any census's, we think born around 1860 (guestimate).  We know he had a son called Albert Carter born around 1884 and the family seemed to be in the Marylebone area.

We have only been able to find Albert on the 1911 census and only got his fathers name from a WW1 record.

Thanks

Hi
Like you struggling to find him on the census.
His marriage Dec 1904 Paddington 1a 18 might give some more details for his father Edward and perhaps some witnesses to fit in.
Otherwise there are the School records.
Albert Carter s of Edward Carter born 20.12.1883 was admitted to St Marks School Westminster 10.12.1894.Address 48 Exeter St
His brother Francis born 4.12.1881 was admitted from the same address 26.6.1893.

I've tracked down all the 4 Francis Carter's registered in England and Wales on the GRO index and no luck I'm afraid. There are 14 Alberts and none are sticking out.

Hi,

Like Ciderdrinker I'd found the above school admission and have been looking for the 'Carters'

This 1891 census could be worth looking  -

Edward Carley  ???   37
Frances Carley   34
Haing Carley   14
Edward Carley   12
Frank Carley   10
Albert Carley   8 b. Marylebone, London
Lily Carley   4
Carolina Carley   2

RG12 Piece 99 Folio 85 Page 101, 48 Exeter Street

Perhaps someone could offer an opinion.............

JJ
