If any of these names mean anything to you or you have more information on the family please contact me.

Was Gerald's father born Whitstable? Or did they arrive in Whitstable for the 1901 census

Gerald's father was born in Middlesex Kent c 1863 and was living in Lee London in the 1891 census. By the 1901 census they were living at Lowender Albert St. Whitstable Kent. Alfred was shown as age 38 and employed as a sewing machine agent.

The family seem to have emigrated to B. C Canada by 1909.

Hope this helps.

I am sorry to say I do not have them in my Whitstable Humphrey tree.
Do you have the marriage certificate for Alfred and Henrietta? It may give Alfred's father then you can work backwards.
I had a look at the London 1871 census and there are around three Alfred's of the right age!

What a shame that they are not linked with your Humphrey's.

Alfred married Henrietta Judd in Edmonton Essex in 1888 but I have not got their marriage certificate yet.

My first step will be to get Gerald's marriage certificate to Bertha Allen which took place in Norfolk in 1920.

I'm descended from John Pettman, b 13.06.1796 and Alice Manktelow, down to Thomas and Jane Pattenden, then Joseph and Julia Mary Nicholls, to Horace P and Florence Jessie Goldsmith, Bernard P and Agnes 'Pat' Smith, to Anne Pettman, who was my mother.  I'm collecting any info from John Pettman in 1796 downwards for all branches, although if anyone has anything further back I'd absolutely love it.  As I said, I have 318 ancestors so far, but any info even duplicated would be greatly received.  Many thanks.
