I believe the Scargill connection could be Helena Taylor (possibly an aunt of William) who married James Scargill in Dublin in 1835 and was born c.1813 in Ireland.
Scargill (all spelling variants): C12th to present day - worldwide
Rothwell/King-Irwin/Blake/Fry/Barnardo: C19th-C20th - Ireland

If Jeremiah was born c1790 then it is possible that Helena Taylor could be an older sister of William Edward. According to the 1851 census she was born in Tipperary, Ireland in c1813. James Scargill & Helena Taylor named one of their sons Nathaniel Taylor Scargill.

Hello All

Could Dave Jones (who contributed to the Taylor family by way of Newspaper announcements on this thread) be able to assist if there was an obituary or death notice in the local Cheltenham papers (or nearby papers)

I have the Rev James Taylor b1829 died 1867.
He apparently is buried at St Mary Prestbury, Gloucestershire.
(His father Jeremiah is buried there as well d1862)
I have an inkling that the Rev James died elsewhere.  His last residence in 1864 was in Little Dewchurch, Herefordshire.  His widow Frances Helen was living in Cheltenham ref 1871 Census.

Also a Frances Sarah Taylor nee Todd who died Dec qtr 1869 reg Cheltenham. buried ??? (wife of William Taylor)

Any help appreciated.

Regards
Rosalie

Hi Trish. :)

Thank you for your reply

I have seen other trees re: Jeremiah Taylor and I do have the info that you supplied.

Just fixing up loose ends to Jeremiah's tree with a burial/death date by way of newspaper or church record for Prestbury St Mary.  (are there any record of burials for St Mary at Prestbury?)

Rev James Taylor lived at Prestbury and then Little Dewchurch, Herefordshire but I cannot locate an accurate death rego.   I have tried online deaths and wills on most sites. died 1867.

And then there is the sister in law Frances Sarah Taylor. reg Cheltenham died 1869.  :'(

kind regards

Rosalie

Hi Trish

Frances Taylor has shown up on the 1881 census as a male not female. (this threw me off track)
SO this means she is not the Frances that died in 1867 at Cheltenham.

She most probably was missing on 1871 census, maybe overseas.
