George GRAHAM, born c.1764 in Canonbie
« on: Sunday 18 June 06 23:57 BST (UK) »
I am hoping to find further information on George GRAHAM, born c.1764 in Canonbie, Dumfriesshire. George went on to marry a Mary JACKSON, born c.1768 also in Canonbie. Their marriage took place in Canonbie on 02 May 1789. They then went on to have seven children together; Mary, John, James, William, Ann, Archibald and another James (I am assuming the first James died).

Does anybody have any information?

Hi N

I did check pretty thoroughly on SP but I couldn'y find anything at all. Think it might be a check on the dates for the start of the Canonbie records or Kirk session minutes.

Hi,

I would be interested in receiving the picture you took of the headstone (George is in my family tree).

Great -- thanks for the photos!  ;D

I believe that this George Graham is one of myGGGGgrandfather, James Graham's (b. 1771, m. Isobel Borthwick) brothers.

These photos are really interesting, I can put them in photoshop and see if I can improve the detail and readability.

Thanks for responding.

Hi,
I notice that George was baptized in Canonbie in 1764 and buried in Thornethwaite. I am wondering if there is any relation to William Graham (of Knottyholme) and Agnes Armstrong. I have been unable to find their marriage however their children are:
Francis bap. Dec 30th, 1758,
Thomas (of Thornethwaite) bap Apr 20th 1760,
Helen (of Knottyholme) bap. May 26th, 1760,
Mary (of Thornethwaite) bap June 23rd, 1763,
Catherine bap Sept. 24th, 1767,
and so on. As is seen there is a gap in baptisms between Mary and Catherine.
Is there any knowledge if we are talking of the same Graham family?
Laure (France);
Graham (Cumberland, England/Grahamsfield, Scotland), Taylor (Orkney);
Rogan, Johnston, McKinney, Irwin, Hamilton (Ireland);
Masters (Wiltshire, England).
