Hi Werdan

A number of my relations were born at Laighland and Crofthead, Bridge of Weir including my Grandmother and would have been there at the same time as your relations.

William McAninch who was my Great Great Grandfather had two wives; Sarah Menzies and Annie Douglas.  6 of his 10 children with Annie Douglas were born at Laighland:

Janet 1893
Annie 1893
Matthew 1894
Henrietta 1895
Henry 1896
Robert 1896

My Great Grandfather John McAninch's mother was Sarah Menzies and he was born on the Lairds Land in Kilmacolm in 1882.

8 of my Great Grandfather; John McAninch's 16 children were born at Crofthead:

Robert 1914
Mary 1916
Frederick 1917
Sarah (my grandmother) 1918
Francis 1919
Andrew 1921
Hannah 1922
George 1925

The records I have show that my Great Grandfather was a Golf Greenkeeper, a General Labourer, a Labourer and a Mason's Labourer when his children were born at Crofthead.

My understanding was my Great Grandfather worked at Crofthead.  A number of his children were also born in Kilbarchan.

I did meet a number of my great aunts and uncles including Hannah, Andrew and Fred listed above and I am still in contact with Fred's daughter.

Regards

Sarah

Crofthead was on the NE corner of B of Weir on the B790 you can see it here http://maps.nls.uk/os/6inch/index.html select the seamless google overlay and position yourself over the Bridge of Weir. Laighland was more than likely in town.
