1881-1901 lookup please James Ramsey, Dundee

An elderly friend is looking for information on her grandfather James Ramsey, born 1876 in Dundee. The only other information she has is that he died in 1944 again in Dundee.

You are going to have to download a copy of his 1944 death cert to get his parents names and mothers maiden name as there are several of his name b Dundee on the 1881 census

Does she perhaps know the names of any of his siblings as that may help narrow it down

Hi all ,

Would the spelling of the surname be Ramsay rather than Ramsey.

Can't see a likely death in Angus for a James Ramsey , nor a likely birth for a James Ramsey in Angus.

It might be easier to identify James through his marriage if details of his spouse are known

Having checked I now find the details i posted are wrong. His name was James Patullo RAMSAY and he was born in 1868.

I have just checked SP and he was born in 1871 not 1868

The 1881 census shows just one additional child - William aged 8 b Forfar
