Was Jacob's service record on FindMyPast?
I suspect William's marriage was not a happy one,he leaves England before his sister marries;and Elizabeth and Joseph are not easy to track on census.William had marital problems in Queensland and publicly disowned his wife..
For now I will just keep checking and see what comes up.

Yes it is. Also on FindMyPast are land tenancy records for the Macclesfield area in which the names Moses Barlow and Jacob Barlow are mentioned.

Bosley is about 5 miles south of Macclesfield
