Edward Heneage Coltman
« on: Tuesday 16 September 14 19:05 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am looking for any information on Edward Heneage Coltman. He was baptised at St Alphege in Greenwich, the son of Joseph and Susanna Coltman. I cannot find a marriage for Joseph and Susanna, but they appeared to have had 4-6 children. Edward got married in Barkby in Leicestershire where his daughter was born , but i believe he returned to Greenwich at some point.I have found his will and it looks as though he had some property in Greenwich which was left to his wife Mary and to David Dennant his son-in-law.On his baptism certificate Joseph is a clerk. Many thanks Lyn

Edward Heneage Coltman is found in the Poll Books of London:

1835 (Black Heath District) - living at Trafalgar Road, Greenwich. His brother, Robert Jackson Coltman, is in the same book, at Turnpin Lane, Greenwich.

1847 (Blackheath District) - Edward still at Trafalgar Road. Robert now in King Street, Greenwich.

His brief death notice appeared in the Kentish Gazette on 8 Jan 1850:
DEATHS
COLTMAN - Dec. 31, at Exeter, Mr. Edward H. Coltman, of Greenwich, Kent, in the 70th year of his age.

I can't find him on the census either....

The only Joseph/Susanna combination I have found so far is

Joseph Coltman to Susanna Sellers 18/07/1802 at St Alphege Greenwich both were single at the time so maybe his brother?

Thankyou to all . I think Joseph and Susanna had possibly two sons called Joseph... not sure if the first one Joseph John born in 1770 died,  the second Joseph born in 1777. Both i think baptised in St Alfege. I didn't have any of the deaths so thankyou for them. Lyn
