David Paxton, builder and carpenter Greenwich died 1849
« on: Sunday 26 October 14 08:32 GMT (UK) »
I have been searching for more detail on David Paxton, a carpenter in Greenwich, for a while - without success. He appears to have worked there from about 1805-1812  until his death in 1849. David travelled from Hull in 1800 to Manchester, then settled in Greenwich. He and his wife Jane Smith had five children: Jane Smith Paxton (who died in Greenwich aged 15);Ann Paxton (1798 -?); Ambrose Smith Paxton (1799- 1800); Mary Smith Paxton (1805-1874) and Matilda Paxton (1811-1884). Its David I am researching at present and although I have found burial records and have sent away for his marriage and death records, I am yet to find anything about his life. Can someone suggest how I could research land records or poll books (I have not found him yet in West Kent books or any newspaper references) or apprenticeship papers?
